Streamlining content testing for global stakeholders

Amazon Video required a streamlined solution for its global teams to test new content efficiently. The goal was to create a booking portal that allowed internal stakeholders to invite selected users to participate in surveys, providing critical feedback on unreleased episodes.

Working as part of a small, agile team (design, back-end development, and survey programming), we delivered a responsive booking portal in just two weeks. The system integrated deeply with Amazon's databases to automate study creation and ensure seamless workflows.

Within six months, the portal facilitated the testing of over 100 episodes, exceeding internal and client expectations.

Problem

The existing process for organising content testing was manual, time-consuming, and lacked scalability:

  • Efficiency: Amazon needed a centralised, automated solution to replace manual workflows.
  • Integration: The system had to connect with existing databases and internal survey tools.
  • Usability: Ensuring the interface was intuitive for stakeholders with varying technical expertise.

Approach

Discovery

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to define requirements and identify pain points in the existing process.
  • Conducted rapid research and user testing to validate design concepts.

Design & Development

  • Designed a user-friendly booking form optimised for speed and simplicity.
  • Ensured alignment with Amazon's branding, UI guidelines, and internal workflows.
  • Prototyped and iterated rapidly, working closely with the developer for seamless integration.

Collaboration

  • Partnered with a back-end developer and survey programmer to ensure the form's functionality met business needs.
  • Delivered precise handoffs and design assets to facilitate efficient implementation.

Outcome

The booking form delivered significant improvements to Amazon's content testing process:

  • Enabled the testing of over 100 episodes in the first six months.
  • Streamlined workflows, saving time and resources for stakeholders.
  • Received positive feedback for its intuitive interface and seamless integration with internal systems.
